Species Info + Rules
What is a minoan?
Minoans are a plotline-based species with lore that expands over a mythological pantheon and the inhabitants of the islands they live upon. They are a cow-like humanoid species, and cover all walks of life, from mages and kings to ship captains and nomads. We look forward to sharing our species with you, and hope you find your home with us, friend!
Terms of service
Please keep in mind the following rules, alongside remembering that we are all here to have fun!
Minoans are a closed species owned by Hearteater & Co and are not allowed to be created freely without the owners' expressed permission. Members are required to be 16+ to acquire a minoan and to join and partake in the specific events and discord. Nothing involving the species may be used in any blockchain related technology, to include NFT’s, cryptocurrency or future inventions in the space.
Failure to adhere to this rule will result in an immediate blacklisting from the species. Please read the rules of the species thoroughly before acquiring one of your own, as you will be agreeing to these rules when you accept ownership of a design whether it be via purchase, trade or gift, etc.
We ask that you keep things such as personal drama between the people involved and not drag it into our community. Regardless of how mature some subject in this species and its lore can be, we ask that you keep real life subjects such as politics, war etc out of the community as it can be upsetting to many. Situations of art theft, rip-offs and other such situations are taken seriously and should be brought to the team with the necessary proof and information. Adding to this, it is discouraged to approach users inciting them to sell their minoans to you.
WAYS TO ACQUIRE A MINOANOfficial adopts through;
flatsales, auctions, community events and raffles.Custom designs made by official designers.Trading/selling in the community.
ADOPTING A MINOANWhen adopting a minoan you will get a reference sheet and access to the world, some thing are expected of you when this happens:- Whilst partaking in the main lore it is okay to have AU versions of these characters in different stories of yours. Reading the lore and staying respectful to it is encouraged.-You may create AU versions of your Minoan. However they are restricted to non-closed-species only to make sure to not step on anyone's toes. (Unless said species is owned by you).
-When transferring ownership of your Minoan, any AUs, Items and other aspects attached to them must either be nullified or forfeited to the new owner.
-When creating connections you must have full consent of the owner of said minoan for it. If trading a minoan with pre existing connections it's encouraged to revise these.
-You are not allowed to completely overhaul a minoan and shift its traits, rarities and the like.
- You are not allowed, in any sense of the word, to block, mute or wall all of admin’s access to the minoan.
-You are not allowed to hide away the characters (ex: authorized mode on toyhouse) this disrupts masterlist listing and risks your minoan getting voided.
-Hidden characters cannot participate in breeding or other events.
-People who mass block the community cannot participate in breeding or other events
The addition of traits through items is allowed but to fully finalize them it is required for the owner to draw them by themselves (or a third party,) or, having an OA finalize the design through an upgraded reference. If drawn by a non-OA, the art must be submitted via ticket for approval.
VOIDING, BANS, LEAVING AND UNVOIDINGUsers who become blacklisted due to repeated rule breaking of community guidelines and TOS will have their minoan voided. Voiding means that the minoan will no longer be considered part of the species until un-voided. If you purchased a voided minoan and want it to re-listed on the masterlist you can contact server mods and they’ll get you sorted.Voided minoans do NOT take part in official lore nor events.
If you are blocked, banned, blacklisted, etc from the minoans community for any reason, you may either keep your minoan as its own entity and remove any distinct minoan features, or communicate with admins to discuss rehoming.
We want to be able to give people options, but do not want to jeopardize the safety of our community.Another case to note; members that leave the discord server are allowed to keep their minoans or rehome them. Leaving the community hub is not a voidable offense and it simply stops users from accessing specific events and content. Any user is allowed to come back to the community and pick up from where they left off.
CLARIFYING STATEMENTSIf you want your character to know another character, you must have agreement from the owner of the other character----------------------------------------------Creating minor characters in LORE for your character to be related to/have relations with is allowed, however you cannot make them fully fledged designs. They must remain anonymous shapes/silhouettes in any illustrative work or writing. They can't be related to other characters without the consent of the owner of another character.----------------------------------------------Directly related NPCs (ie, parents) can only exist in concept and not in design. These conceptual NPCs are considered an accessory to your minoan. To get a solid design for these other character ideas you have, you need to adopt another minoan.----------------------------------------------Upgrades are add-ons to your minoan. In canon, they mutate or fit over your minoan's existing body, not replace it. You cannot redo a design and make it lose its initial identity.
TRADING AND SELLING TOSWhen trading or selling your minoans you therefore agree to the following conditions of conduct.
----------------------------------------------It is encouraged to consult mods through tickets about pricing and selling of a minoan. If the pricing of said minoan is not known, mods will assign a worth to said minoan.
----------------------------------------------You must sell at the price you purchased the Minoan for. Inflating the price of a minoan when reselling is prohibited. Additional art can add to the price within reason, not drastically increase.----------------------------------------------You must update ownership transfers in the appropriate channel within the discord server. The listing is required to mark as sold. In Th, you must specify what value it was sold/traded for in the ownership log.---------------------------------------------Once sold/traded a minoan will enter a cooldown period. The cooldown starts the moment the trade was done on TH
----------------------------------------------A minoan cannot be sold or traded until this cooldown has ended. It can be gifted.
----------------------------------------------When advertising to sell or trade your minoan, you must provide the original value you purchased them at and all images/art of them so the buyer can oversee the value.----------------------------------------------Gifted/free minoans will have a set value of 0 USD. The only way to gain monetary value is by adding worth through extra commissioned artwork. Members seen abusing the artwork value will have their post taken down. If a minoan already has USD worth, this will be set back to 0 and can only be gained back through additional art, starting from the day it was gifted.----------------------------------------------
Gifted/free minoans cannot be sold for USD until value is added. They can be traded, exchanged for art or gifted.----------------------------------------------
Admins do not take responsibility for not being mindful when buying a minoan. If a user gets scammed it is by their own accord. Members are encouraged to use the ticket system for inquiry if confused about pricing or trade of an existing minoan.
----------------------------------------------If a minoan has extra artwork, value must be added only for commissioned art pieces. Personal artwork does not add onto the price of said minoan. EXCEPTIONS of this rule will happen when a minoan has over 6+ polished personal pieces, in this case the value added is 25% the total work of these pieces. This rule is set to avoid price inflation by sellers.----------------------------------------------It is the seller’s duty to keep track of the USD equivalent of any commission purchased with fantasy currency. These equivalents should match the same as the artist commissioned. We encourage you to note down these moments of acquiring a commission with fantasy currency.----------------------------------------------In regards to artwork, gifts DO NOT add to the value of a minoan.----------------------------------------------When trading, the value of art or other characters as payment is determined by the seller, but we encourage to exchange for characters of similar value and not exploit the buyer.
BREEDING TOSWhen breeding a minoan through NPC or other methods, a user agrees to follow the terms of conduct regarding this. These terms of conduct include.----------------------------------------------Having full consent from all minoan owners involved to make the breeding happen.----------------------------------------------When studding, not accepting prepayments or reservations until admins approve of said studding.----------------------------------------------Only advertising studding in the events and conditions that are announced by staff. may it be events or openings. Studding offers outside of these can result in breeding restrictions for said minoan.----------------------------------------------If traded away mid studding, the reservations for said minoans become null, all parties consent to these terms.----------------------------------------------Members will respect the limited slots given per user for each studding opening. This includes purchasing and selling. Mass hoarding of these slots can result in restriction from the system.----------------------------------------------Minoans will enter breeding cooldowns that are specified by staff after a design is made. These cooldowns must be respected regardless if the character is transferred or sold.----------------------------------------------Instances of canonical inbreeding in the form of incest is prohibited. Do not be weird about this.----------------------------------------------Breedings can be canon only if all parties consent to this. This consent can be taken away by new owners.
BUDDY SYSTEM TOSTo avoid hoarding within members the minoans community encourages the rehoming of inactive minoans to NEW members of the community without any minoan. By taking part of the buddy system you will be rewarded with an item of use for your preexisting minoans. The guidelines of such are as follows.----------------------------------------------A member is not allowed to take payment for this exchange, if so, the reward will not be given to them.
A member cannot demand to get the given minoan back. Item “farming” through this system is a bannable offense and will affect both parties.----------------------------------------------The gifted minoan value will be set to 0, as it was a gift. This value can be added on through artwork and extra items.----------------------------------------------If members do not consent to this 0 value rule, they should trade or sell the minoan instead, getting no reward but keeping value.
harassing a person to take part of this buddy system is prohibited.----------------------------------------------The user receiving the minoan must
have a current minoan count of 0
THESE RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME WITH OR WITHOUT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT.

the story of you
A minoan's name is intended to change over the course of their life. Great things happen to every minoan in their lifetimes, and a name is meant to be the story of you and who you are.
Let's follow a few minoans through the course of their lives
and see how they grow and change.
Sun'kith was born in Sunlaathin, to two loving parents.
After training through his youth and becoming a prominent mage, his tribe leader appointed him with a new name, N'sunii.
He retired into fatherhood and died at an old age with
his final name, N'sunii'mot.
O'ni'liit was the firstborn son of his parents, after six daughters.
His father, after long deliberation, decided to
choose him as tribal heir, ousting his eldest sister.
At the festival for his tenth nameday, he was granted the new name, P'ni'liit.
When his father died shortly after, he was appointed tribal leader at the small age of 12.
At his coronation, he was appointed his new name, O'hi'kith.
P'ni'laat was the eldest and prettiest of
all of the king's daughters.
At the age of 15, her first brother was born.
Yet she retained her name for many years
until his tenth nameday,
where her name was silently changed to Ni'laat.
She left the tribe when her father died, journeying long beyond their borders and adopting a new name for herself: Ra'laat.
Tribes of Minoa
N'liit gestures to a map dimly lit in the candlelight.
Underneath are stacks of journals; diaries of his expeditions, no doubt.
" Where would you like to visit, traveler? "
Gods of minoa
N'liit notices your eyes glance towards an altar
positioned against a far wall.
His lips pull into a wide smile, and
he motions for you to follow him over."How could you not be so curious about such things?"Eager to talk your ear off about the deities of the land,
he leads you and motions to the many portraits he has
scattered around the stone slab.
The Major Gods
These are the Gods who lead the Pantheon.
They make all of the choices, and their word is virtually law.
✧ Maa'lat'in ✧
The Goddess of Motherhood, Kindness, Fertility, and Love.
In the beginning, all people were ruled under
Maa'lat'in, the Mother God of the Earth, and
El'ii'nim, The Father God of the Sea.Upon Maa'lat giving birth to their children,
the world was created. She gave birth to the ancestors
of all people and to all of the gods who came after. After the fall of El'iinos in the Great War, she and her brother-in-law moved to the Rag'on Jungles and renamed the location for Baal'mot, Baal'kithi.
It is very common for Maa'laat to be worshipped by expectant mothers.
Pink paint and special symbols work as a mercy shield in wartime. Pregnant women will be overlooked and granted refuge in all cases.
She loves all of her children, even though some are a little harder to love than the others.

✧ elu'mani✧
The Goddess of the Moon, Stars and Sky.
Nobody is exactly sure of the heritage of this ghostly Minoan, but legend tells of a little swaddle in a seabasket landing itself on the craggy shores of Illinoa.Nobody is sure how the bundle ended up in Sunny's crib, and nobody is sure where the owner of the wet footprints leading out of the palace that day disappeared to.Many people have their theories on the origins of the Moon Goddess; but really, only one person knows the truth.
Perhaps one day, they will be known.
Elu'mani seems to possess an ethereality that makes her have a gentle glow.
She is reserved, compared to Sunny's outwardness.

Rag'wan is a time-bomb of malice.
He is cold and ruthless. He is mostly worshipped during times of looming battle. Raiders and Soliders are known to call
upon him in times of desperation. While he is not known to give direct blessings,
surviving a battle is often a good enough sign
that he's heard your prayer.
Rag'wan is not friendly. Do not ever think otherwise.
It is said that he can eat an entire pot pie in one bite. I do not doubt this entirely.

✧ N'wan'iel, the Witch Goddess ✧
The Goddess of Sorcery, Magic, and Fate.
While she's known for being evil, this is not entirely the case. Her cursing of P'iinii and persistence to not take a side during the Great War has given her a bad reputation. She is commonly referred to as the root of all magic, and all magic stems from her blessing, regardless of the form.It is not uncommon for someone who has never shown any signs of magical ability to gain her favor and become a spellcaster overnight.
N'wan'iel will stay in N'ellan with her people once a year, during the Wake. She must be summoned by Memorati, who draws on the power of all of the residents of N'ellan to bring her home.

He will not lift a finger if the vengeance is not rational. His way of going about things is cruel and blunt, and he believes the only righteous justice being that of vengeance. His followers believe in taking no enemies and are usually related with Rag'wan. The two of them are close.
Mew'hi'wani is known for his overzealous ways to bring vengeance to his follower's enemies. It is not uncommon to find headless corpses filling rooms where it seems they have "popped" from the inside out.

Sunny is the youngest and
smallest of all of Maa'laat'in's children. He has a gentle heart, and some would
say he tiptoes being too kind. The "Great Tree" upon his island is his favorite spot to be. Supposedly, he lived there for many years before
The Great War.Occasionally, his priestesses claim to see
him hanging lights off of the branches and
picking flowers that surround it.
Sunny is little and kind. I love him.
He is on his way to being a major god, but not quite there yet. He is having too much fun to be so boring.

✧ P'iini ✧
The God of Trickery, Mischief, Impulsivity, and Strategy.
P'iinii is the second oldest son of Maa'laat'in,
but was cursed by the Witch Goddess N'wan'iel. In protest of his participaition in The Great War,
she cursed him to be young forever so
he could never age into heir-hood.This lead Maa'laat'in to never step down as primary god after her husband's death. His military prowess, however, won the Great War.
He is known to mingle with "earthly" women in
different forms, play tricks on his fellow gods,
and be blamed for all things ironic. He loves to bend rules and get involved in trouble, and his followers are oftentimes very similar.
One of the most common Minoan stories is a story about P'iini's attempt to court the Eldest Sunlaathin Princess. He attempted to hide his identity by coming to meet her with gifts and presents all under different faces. Each time she turned him away, declaring that she would not marry such an ugly man. P'iini went through many faces, all of which he thought were the pinnacle of beauty, and still she turned him away. Eventually he gave up, coming to her as himself. Before he could even open his mouth, the princess exclaimed, "This is the ugliest one yet!"

the brothers, and a swift blow to the head
by Baal'mot's war hammer cracked his skull.
Khio'lor's wounds have wept since his defeat and he only speaks through his son, Cae'nim.
His magic is white fire, and the smoke escaping his open wound is said to be from the embers inside of his body.

was protecting them from El'ii'nim's evil and is the
rightful god and successor of the war. This is something disputed all over the world, but it is primarily found amongst the Sea People.
He is the oldest of Maa'laat'in's children.
It is said that during the fight with his father he lost his left eye and now all of the waters from every ocean is trapped inside.

and begged his sister to do the same. After the Great War, he was
essential in trying to keep the peace.Although he misses his sister more than anything else, he prefers the temporary peace keeping her and Khio'lor away.
He is the twin of Mor'tuuk, and the Uncle of Maa'laat and Khio'lor.

She misses her brother, and will rescue him from the unworthy one day.And they should fear the day that
death comes down from the mountain.

Minoans of importance
These few are Minoans of importance in the various tribes.
They include Chosen, Chiefs, Monarchs, and other roles.
Their roles are small compared to their deities, but they are important and beloved by them as if they were husbands, wives, siblings, or children.
When it comes to Chosen,
they are familiar with each other like they are family. In times of War, they are given safe passage and immunity. They are always allowed into other tribes as honored guests. It is believed that killing a Chosen would be like commiting a crime against the God themselves, and most no one is willing to risk that ire. While all Gods have their own chosen, not all of them are known to the rest of the world. Some of them move in silence. For what? Who knows.
Sometimes, very rarely, a God will fall so deeply in tune with their Chosen that they will choose to give them some of their power permanently: giving them Demigod status.Demigods, for what history has shown to date, are Minoans with elongated lifespans and powers that excel beyond those capable of most mortals. They will often be given their own niche, as in Cae'nim's "God of the Hearth" status, and relieve that duty from their deity as a means of showing true devotion.
Illinoa
✧ Indomitus✧
Chief of the Illinoan Isles
He traveled all over the sea, taking parts in many raids before settling down into his throne. His father, Diemnus was a lenient ruler who grew older than he should have due to Indomitus' desire to be at sea.He is a young chief, but intends to make his reign one that will go down in Iliinoan history.
Indomitus does not want to be like his father.
He has killed the most Na'gi on record, being six of various sizes and ability.
He had to give up the hunt for the largest Na'gi near Illinoa, Mago, in order to take the throne from his father. A Na'gi of tremendous size, it is said that the glint of her black scales under the water is the conscript of death for most vessels. It is said that she can snake her entire body around even the largest minoan boat ten times, and swallow the smallest whole.
Indomitus wants nothing more than to have her skull in his hall.
✧ Illi'wan'i ✧
Head Priestess of the Illinoan Isles
Chosen of I'liin'onln
Illi'wan'i became a priestess at a very young age, after her parents orphaned her in a sea accident. When she was in her youth, the Illinoan religious hierarchy was run by snobby old men, who were too cowardly to put themselves to use for I'liin'onln out in the field.Very quickly as she aged she rose through the ranks, and with the backing of her God and Husband, she cast the weakness from the Illinoan Priesthood and it is now the largest female-run religious sect in the world.
She is well loved by everyone and is very easy to get along with, so long as you make no effort to step on her toes.
Khiotho
✧ Cae'nim ✧
Jarl of Khiotho.
Son and Chosen of Khio'lor.
Demigod of the Home and Hearth.
He has always ruled the Khiotho. His magical ability is astounding and unparalleled,
because he is not a mortal Minoan. While Cae'nim rules with a stern fist and wants to see his people thrive, he looks a lot scarier than he really is.
He is a White Fire mage, which comes from his close connection with his father.
Cae'nim does what his father suggests and then some.
BaALkithi
✧ MOr'ghuul✧
King of Baalkithi. Rag'wan's Chosen.
He is the leader of Baalkithi, and loves his wife Ni'ona more than anything else in the world;
the Arenas are a very close second though.
While he worships both Baal and Rag'wan, the latter's love for him is very very well known.
He dedicates every win to his wife.
He trains the best soldiers in the world so they can protect his wife when he can't.
He will carry his wife on one arm so her feet don't get tired.
✧ Ni'ona ✧
Queen of Baalkithi. Very Pregnant Soon-to-be Mom.
A former Priestess for Baal, the Queen of Baalkithi is never found very far away from her husband, unless he is doing something dangerous, like hosting the Arenas.
She loves to go and watch him, and every time he wins he gives her flowers. It's their victory!
She loves to sew and embroider.
This is her first baby.
She used to be a Priestess, but gave that up for Mor'ghuul.
She is always covered in Jewelry, but it's all gifts from her husband.
N'ellan
✧ Memorati ✧
Harbinger of N'ellan. N'wan'iel's Chosen.
Demigod of Rituals and Refuge.
Once a mortal man like anybody else, he proved himself as an asset to N'wan'iel time and time again and he now serves his existence protecting her people. He is completely mute unless he is worshipping his favorite woman, but it is not uncommon to find him feeding bread and dried meat to the gators when he thinks he's alone.
Memorati is the gentle giant of the swamps, but that can change quickly.
Wanderers
✧ N'liit'wan ✧
Silly Little Guy - A Friend, I Promise!
P'iini's Chosen - but this does not make him tricky!
This is a familiar face!
I- I mean, He, is a very famous explorer, cartographer, book-keeper, spell-reader, animal-meeter, friendship-maker, God-speaker- ah, you get my point!
He is very smart, funny, cool, and silly.
Say hello if you ever meet him!
Wouldn't you like to know?
Baalkithi
N'liit reaches for a dusty old journal, wrapped in the tanned hide of a spotted cat you've never seen before. He does not seem shocked in your interest in the Baalkithi, but the fact that you seem so unfamiliar with them does garner his confusion. He leans forward, blowing off the cover, and opens the front page to begin reading his scribbled notes.
There is Old Blood in this jungle....

The Baalkithi are a Jungle-dwelling people with a strong affection for the gods Baal'mot, Elu'mani, and Maa'laat'in.
Their military worships Rag'wan and is the strongest in all of the world.
The most diverse cast of God worship takes place here. There are magnificent temples, monuments, and cities.
It is important to note that the blue worn by the Baalkithi is in memoriam of El'ii'nim, and not in worship of I'llin'onln. (This is underlined with red ink)
They have bustling bazaars, especially during the times of their frequent festivals and parties.
Baalkithi take deity worship very serioiusly.
Most Baalkithi homes and structures are made out of solid stone and are hundreds of years old.
Most Baalkithi are married young, or never marry. It is not uncommon to see families with ten or more kids.
Funeral rites are a multiple day process. It involves a long setup and offering process, burning all internal organs in pyres to release the soul, and leaving the vine-wrapped body in the jungle for the world to reclaim.
Baalkithi has the second most holidays out of any tribe, with every first Sunday of the month being a day of celebration in reverence of the Gods.
The Baalkithi are a society that are not fond of mages, but will find uses for them where needed. They feel they cannot be trusted, and a lot of that resentment comes from Mor'ghuul.
" This is all I have for you, little one. Are you interested in another tribe, or would you like to know about other things?"
N'ellan
When you ask about the N'ellan, N'liit is initially hesitant. However, he has grown to appreciate your company, and reaches for a heavily-bound spellbook. He asks if you're sure you'd like to know, and when you insist, he gives a few gentle words of incantation to allow the binds to slip from the journal. The front page opens on it's own, and N'liit begins reading from it's contents.
Enter at your own risk...

The N'ellan are a tribe made up entirely of Spellcasters.
Upon being exiled or chased out, some spellcasters choose to make the journey to N'ellan instead of the Wastelands.
It is a mystery to most who have never seen it with their own eyes. Some claim that it does not even exist.
It is a glowing swamp where it's night all the time, filled with fantastical animals and people.
Those who try and enter that do not have magical potential somehow find themselves turned around and back to the entrance of the swamp with no memory of ever trying to enter in the first place.
Memorati is the harbinger of N'ellan. He uses his own magic to help N'wan'iel protect the lands. It is impossible to enter if he has removed you. But he's a nice guy, so you should be fine.
While N'ellan is the capital of safe refuge for all kinds of mages, N'wan'iel is not one to allow the legend of N'ellan to spread outside of the swamps.
She does not approve of one-foot-in, one-foot-out behaviors. If you are not prepared to leave everything behind to join her tribe, you will not be welcomed in the swamp. This includes family, lovers, and even children who are not mages and cannot follow.
He seems uncomfortable to have shared this information with you, and hurrily insists that you choose another subject to discuss.
Mewinthi
N'liit smiles with familiarity. He will answer any questions you have, as he is very familiar with the Mewinthi and the people of the desert. It's a place he visits often in his travels. The book he picks from the pile is worn, beaten from it's time in the dunes, but well loved and cared for.
The Harsh Desert is home to many.
You just may not see them at first glance.

Mew'hi'wani | Red | Assassin | Poisons |

Mewinthi are a nomadic Desert people, though there are multiple little villages throughout their land.
These people often move in familial groups, but sometimes move in friend groups. They very rarely travel alone.
They are brilliant at trade and use their nomadic experience to peddle their wares all over the continent and world.
The desert is a harsh place, but the people who make it their home are a mostly honest and empathetic group.
Their religion is based on the idea that every Minoan should experience success and failure.
They have a strong sense of justice and an even stronger sense of vengeance.
These people often wear hoods, shawls, and other loose fitting attire.
Desert Shamans are known for their elaborate attire of things found from throughout the desert (glass, cacti, wood, snakes).
These Desert people worship the Gods, Mew'hi'wani and Mew'li'on , who they believe represents their ways of life: harsh yet just.
They often worship N'wan'iel and elaborate on her love and association with her siblings during The Great War.
The Exile replaces the book back on the shelf with a smile. You can tell he appreciated the conversation. He turns to you and asks if there's anything else you'd like to know?
Sunlaathin
The journal N'liit pulls from the shelf is thin and new, with pressed flowers sticking between the pages. He smiles when he turns to you. "You know, my own God is from this isle. There is a story of P'iini, where he chased after a mortal woman- ah, but this is not the time. Perhaps later?"
The Sunshine Lands may just be
the friendliest in the isles of Minoa.

The Sunlaathin are a joyous people, who live incredibly peacefully and carefree. They live an extremely peaceful, playful life.
You will find the worshippers of Sun'laat'wan and P'iini here, hanging from trees or celebrating any small joy.
On the lazier end, you'll also find followers of Lii'tuum. The God of Sleep always blesses between chore naps.
They are often found wearing a rainbow of colors, with this island being the only island that makes normal use of the color pink.
It's not uncommon for these tribes to be raided by their neighbors, as they have no interest in war and have very little in the way of defenses. They are a small people, but love to make alliances and friends.
After The Great War, Sun'laat'wan was given the task of preventing his brother I'liin'onln from ever getting close to the other people. They take this task seriously, even if they are not good at war.
They're more like 'watch dogs' and report to the Baalkithi with any changes. They have good senses of humor and are decent navally, but not for combat.
The Priestesses on this island function around and live in The Great Tree. This is a sacred site for them.
These Island People are known for their fruits, vegetables, and jewelry.
They make fantastic necklaces due to the bright orange gems found on their island which they believe to be a gift from Sun'laat'wan.
While in Baalkithi there resides a King and Queen, the Sunlaathin Monarchy is made up entirely of Princesses.
Ruling class women have Eunuchs as guards and hand-maids. This is a role that cannot reproduce. They are smaller than the other men.
He carefully places the flowers back into their pages and sets the book back into place, waiting for your next question.
Khiotho
The journal that N'liit reaches for is made of white fur. The pages have a dark sealant, and the writing is illegible in some places. It's obvious the author must have had very, very chilly fingers.
Do not pack lightly if you wish to travel these lands..

Khio'lor | Red | Hunters | Furs |
Mor'tuuk | Black | Gatherers | Lumber |

Khiotho are Mountain People that live in extreme isolation since The Divide.
These people live in villages along the mountain, sometimes migrating for better weather conditions.
Their entire living space is all snow, so much so that all of the lakes are frozen solid.
While these people don't have direct contact with other tribes, they do have contact with the Exiles who live in The Wastelands at the base of the mountain- they do trading with these people, along with traveling merchants that dare to enter The Wastelands.
Khiotho have an alliance with Iliinoans, stating that they will not ever fight one another if they were to cross paths. I'liin'onln was also cast out from the other gods, therefore he and Khio'lor found a common enemy.
Most men are appointed to hunting duties and high crafts. The women, like the men, are expected to have multiple survival skills (especially when it comes to children). There are not very many gendered roles, but ceremonies usually have gendered expectations.
Mages within the Khiotho are usually healers, practice blood magic, or are fire mages. These mages almost always have a religious connection. Tattoos are common in Khiotho society, and all healers are heavily tattooed.
Blood magic is something unique in the Khiotho, while it's taboo for every other tribe it is not here.
Blood connects them directly to their God. Khiotho believe that since all living things have blood, it not only connects them to the world around them but provides sustenance.
Blood is hot and functions as a good way to keep warm during a hunt or a task, it also serves as a good broth for soups and a good material in paint and dyes.
The government unit consists of a Jarl, who has never been anyone other than Cae'nim. Cae'nim is the direct son of Khio'lor and a mortal Minoan who has long since passed.
Cae'nim is a mage of White Fire and rules with a stern yet kind hand. His interests are those of his people, and he is a bit bitter for being kicked from his original home during The Divide. It seems he is immortal like his father.
Living amongst the Khiotho is about survival over all things.
Fashion is not a big deal to these people, but they engage in elaborate wrapping, beading, and furs for their clothing if they want to show off.
Khiotho have a specific name for their fur covered cloaks: Anokkas. Anokkas are essential to the way that Khiotho live. They wear these cloaks all the time, and they double as a sleeping bag at night. There are sleeves on the inside, which allow for a Minoan to warm themselves up or to keep their hands free during tasks.
Anokkas are given to one another as gifts with great meaning and are usually handmade by the person giving it as a gift. During weddings, all of the women in the community will get together to make a two person anokka for the couple-to-be and they will be gifted it during the ceremony.
N'liit grimaces while he returns the book to it's place.
He says that the warmest thing about Khiotho is the icy glares of the women, and if he never goes back it will still be too soon.
Illinoa
What he pulls from the shelves is not books, but long tubes sealed on each end. He breaks the seal and dumps the contents onto his table, revealing hundreds of sea-worn parchments.
The Seas are almost as unkind as the people...

Iliinoans are Sea People that live in extreme isolation since The Great War.
They do not worship any gods other than I'liin'onln. They believe he is the only true God.
However, they do show some love to Elu'mani for her treatment of priestesses and her pact with I'liin'onln.
Most men are appointed to boats to participate in raids, usually toward the Sunlaathin.
In these raids they get goods that they would receive from trading if they were not isolationist.
Female raiders, who are usually trained in medicine, function as Shield Maidens. They feel superior to the other tribes.
The to-be chief ventures around the world until it is time to usurp his father through violence just as his god, I'liin'onln did. Once his father is dead there is a violent battle where the biological heir takes on any possible challengers until there are no more challengers.
The government consists of a Chief who has absolute control. Though, this society is extremely religious and often rely on their Priestesses to conduct water-based rituals to get direct feedback from I'liin'onln. These priestesses are the wives of I'liin'onln and are 'baptized' in the sea. They can never marry an 'earthly' man and cannot have children. These women take care of the tribes and function as doctors and confidants.
The Head Priestess often acts as a second-in-command, and the Chief will often go to her for advice. She is seen as the favorite wife of their god, and speaks as his voice on earth.
He elects to not put the parchments away yet; too much to roll up in such short time. A bit lazy, he admits, but it will take him time to reseal the tubes anyways.
The Wastelands
Once known as El'iinos, the Greatest Land in Minoa, the Wastelands suffered the most in the Great War.
It is said that when Baal's Hammer hit the ground to banish I'liin'onln from their lands, the earth split open and
hell itself spilled out beneath them.
The Wastelands are the inhabitable home of most exiles.
Exiles are Minoans who were
excommunicated from their tribes. They are generally excommunicated
for a grave offense of rules or customs.
It is better to be dead than exiled, culturally.
These people tend to
abide by their own rules and are very solitary,
but there are times when it is hard to let go of your old life. Most exiles don't declare where their old home was, but the few who long for what they lost may eventually complete tasks for the tribe leaders in order to be granted re-entry.
Common tasks to complete including becoming a eunuch, becoming a priest or priestess, or bringing home a trophy too great for the tribe to turn away.A Minoan can be exiled from their tribe for any number of reasons, but the most common offenses include murder, betraying one's own family, disgracing the Gods, and directly defying military orders.
Magic
Magic can be found in all walks of life.
It is considered a gift from the Goddess N'wan'iel, to those who believe that she is a benevolent diety.
To others, it is considered a curse.
Most Religious leaders are mages, but this is not a requirement.
However, All Healers know some form of magic, beit magic that is given from N'wan'iel, or the natural magic of the world.
Although some kinds of magic are more common in one tribe than another, all magic can appear anywhere.
N'ellan is full of every type of Magic. They do not have a 'most common' location. Everything exists there.

Outlawed Magics
Magic that is very, very illegal.
It is almost always met with violent force when discovered.
Pestilence Magic: Outlawed after an attempt on the life of the Eldest Princess. Some state that the minoan contaminated her wine on accident, turning it to pure poison only by touching the pottery holding it, but nevertheless it didn't stop him from losing his head.
Shadow Magic: Outlawed in all tribes after the King of Baalkithi, Mor'ghuul, caught a thief using the shadow of the locked door to slide jewelry out of the Queen's vault. All Shadow Mages are considered thieves because of this.
Death Magic: This one needs no explaination. While some islands may keep a single necromancer on staff for interrogating corpses, that position is usually filled for many years, or by the much more legal Spirit Mage. Otherwise, they are feared.
Blood Magic: Completely outlawed in every tribe except Khiotho. It is very common in Khiotho, where it is used in day to day life and in reverence of Khio'lor and Mor'tuuk. Everywhere else, it is seen as unfair and something to be feared.
Magic Subgroups
With intense training and focus, some spellcasters have managed to find their way into magical subgroups.
These subgroups are incredibly sought after, be it in order to make use of their gifts or to rid the world of them.
Celestial Magic: A type of Magic learned from years of training. It is mostly found in high ranking priestesses, and it is used to contact Gods directly and to call forth the stars to complete rituals, even on the darkest nights. It is also the magic type typical of Chosen, Minoans that act as mouthpieces for their Gods. Well-known Chosen include Memorati for N'wan'iel, N'liit'wan for P'iini, Illi'wan'i for I'liin'onln, and Cae'nim for Khio'lor. While all Gods have Chosen, not all of them are well known. Some of them are laying in wait. For what? Who knows.
Pestilence Magic: A subset of Death Magic, only the evilest of Warlocks intend to spread plague. This subgroup has earned a very bad reputation, but in reality the majority of Plague Warlocks would just like to brew poisons in peace.
Illusion: A subset of Air Magic that is mainly found in Sunlaathin due to the majority of it's users being followers of P'iini. It is great for visual combat, but is mostly used to be silly.
Spirit Magic: A subset of Life Magic that allows commune with the spirits of deceased minoans, as well as going beyond healing of the flesh. Spirit mages can heal the soul.
Light Magic: A subset of Fire Magic that allows it's user to always conjure a light source. It is incredibly useful for late night expeditions and hunting parties.
Blood Magic: A subset of Fire Magic that allows the user to pull blood right from an enemy's veins. They can also create weapons right out of any open wound, with the same sharpness and effectiveness as steel.

Colors
Blue is the color of Divinity.
It is commonly used by Royalty, by
the Clergy, or in other forms of reverence to the Gods.It is used by all tribes, but mainly found in Baalkithi and Illinoa. It is important to note that blue in Illinoa is for Illinonln, and blue elsewhere is in reverence of the deceased ocean God, El'ii'nim.
Red is the color of Rage.
It is commonly used by soldiers, heirs, those struggling for power, and those who feel the need for vengeance. It is used by all tribes, but mainly found in
Baalkithi and the Wastelands.
White is the color of Snow.
It is commonly used by Khiotho. It is a multiple meaning color when seen outside of the mountains.
While in other tribes it can be a symbol of friendship and mercy, it is unwise to assume the same of a Khiotho resident. To them, it is more like camouflage.
It helps them find you before you find them.
Brown is the color of the Earth.
It is commonly used by Khiotho. While other tribes have sprawling fields and lush forests, the only Green to be found in Khiotho is in the Evergreens.
Therefore, the Earth is Brown, and reverence for the life they live is the same color as freshly-dug dirt exposed from under the frost.
Gold is the color of the Sun.
It is commonly used by Sunlaathin, but is also in many other tribes. The Sun is the center of the world, and not surprisngly, also the center of Minoa. The fields would not grow without it.Gold is most commonly used in reference to Sun'laat'wan,
but is also used in victory and during celebrations.
It is the one of the most widely used paint colors.
Orange is a lot like Yellow.
It is used for the Sun as well, albeit much less frequently.
Green is the color of the Earth.
It is used everywhere, and is a very casual color.
It represents Nature, Life, and is
often used to represent the Mew twins.
The only tribes it can not be found in are Illinoa and Khiotho.
Black is the color of the Grief.
It is used everywhere, and has many meanings.
The most common include grieving, death,
banishment, and despair.
Some Minoans find themselves to be in a constant state of anguish, and do not remove the black paint. This is very common in widows.
Pink is the color of Fertility.
It is commonly used by expectant mothers, but is also used in the Sunlaathin tribe to represent the Princesses.Pink paint is incredibly sacred in the Minoan realm.
It is used by expectant mothers to let enemies they are unfamilar with know that they are pregnant, and in turn they are left alone. It is a mortal sin to kill a woman when she is pregnant, and Maa'laat'in will make sure the criminal is punished.
Purple is the color of Magic.
It is commonly used by N'ellan, but is also in many other tribes. It is a symbol of magic prowess and ability, and while it is not required for you to wear it if you're a spellcaster, you cannot use it if you are not one.
Bioluminescent can come in any color,
but it does spell out one thing: N'ellan.
It is a paint type only found in the swamps, as it is made using the glowing mushrooms that are located there.
Paint Shapes
These are some, but not all, of the Paint Shapes found in Minoa.
These are simply to make character backstory easier.
Feel free to infer your own interpretations.
Handprints are a symbol of safety.
They are a way to say "Please come home to me, Please be safe at war, and Please be safe until I return."They are put on a Minoan's chest and body by a loved one; normally a husband, wife, or beloved friend.
The Womb is a symbol used by pregnant women.
It is drawn in pink paint, and symbolises two lines to cup the baby, and three lines to protect it from above; the mother, the father, and the Mother Goddess.

It means that the minoan is ready to fight or defend itself.
The Sand over the Desert represents Earth/Life and symbolizes the homeland of a Mewinthi.
This symbol represents Khio’lor.
It’s a common Khiotho symbol representing
their devotion to Khio’lor.
Swirling symbols on the Face represent a link to magical forces — the color represents what type. The “Y” shape on the forehead is representative of status and is often drawn on with the thumb with great care.
The Line on the Forehead with Sharp Additives, and a dot mimics N'wan'iel's symbol that is found on her forehead.
The Boat Floating in the Water symbolizes a life at sea.
Runes for Khio’lor symbolize devotion to him.
It’s a written language as well as a ritualistic message.

Forehead decorations have personal meaning to
Khiotho and are specialized.
They wear so much clothing that the forehead is often their
biggest spot to stylize.
Stripes in N’ellan are a way to camouflage and also a stylistic choice that resemble the lemurs from there.
A White Dot is like a kiss from the snow :3
It’s a pleasant Khiotho paint.
Paint around the Groin represents Power.
Moon over the Water represents the alliance between I'liin'onln and Elu'wani, and their appreciation for her in their lives.
